Principal's Welcome

On behalf of the pupils, staff and Board of Governors I would like to welcome you to the Long Tower Primary and Nursery School website.

Long Tower Primary School is located just outside the Derry Walls, close to the city centre. Our school motto, Our Children First, can be seen in everything we do as a school. We believe that each child has the potential to achieve their dreams and make meaningful contributions to their society. As a school, we are determined to provide strong foundations for your child's education and journey with them in their learning from Nursery to Primary 7.

We are blessed to have outstanding pupils, families and staff who make up the unique Long Tower Primary School community. As a result, in our most recent inspection, we were graded outstanding in all areas.

Long Tower is a beautiful school dating back over 100 years. Although, a traditional school, the building is bright, modern and inviting inside and we are very forward thinking when it comes to educating our children. We aim to deliver the Northern Ireland Curriculum to the highest standard, allowing your child to develop a love of learning, encouraging them to be thoughtful and reflective, to understand their place in the world and to set themselves high standards both in their work and discipline. Being a Paths school and School of Sanctuary, we encourage pupils to adopt a positive mind-set and use determination and perseverance to overcome challenges, taking pride in every achievement.

In our recent inspection report, Inspectors from ETI noted:

"The children are extremely proud of their school and their achievements; their behaviour is excellent. They are highly motivated to learn, settle quickly and with a great sense of enjoyment in their lessons, and show consideration and respect for one another, their teachers and other adults."

Welcome to Long Tower Primary School.

Mrs. Joyce Logue
