Lockdown Arrangements- Long Tower Primary School

6th Jan 2021

05/01/21

Dear parents

Yesterday evening, we were advised that schools will remain closed for face to face teaching until after the mid-term break (Monday 22nd February).

Online Learning:

All children will be taught remotely using Edmodo. Children should log on to Edmodo at 9am from Monday to Friday. It is important that you encourage your child to access work online. Children’s activity on Edmodo will be closely monitored.

Children, who have been identified as needing to attend school, will also access learning remotely in school, whilst being supervised. There will be no face to face teaching for any pupils until after the midterm break. Access to remote learning will be given to children requiring school site supervision.

If a child has any difficulty accessing work online, please contact the school office for assistance.

Hard Copy Work

Hard copy work will be available for all children from P1-7 in two week blocks. Packs will be available for collection from the office on Friday 8th January from 9.15am to 3pm. Work should be returned to the school on Friday 22nd January for correction and a further two-week pack will be distributed.

Parents can choose to opt for online work or hard copy work or both.

Children of Keyworkers and Defined Groups of Children

If you feel you need a place for your child at school during lockdown, please click on the link below, complete and return the Keyworker form. Please state clearly which days you need supervision for your child (Question 8).

Definition of Keyworkers

Please note the definition of a child of a key worker is a child for whom both parents (or a parent in a single parent family) are key workers, with no other safe alternative.

If you do require a key worker place, please give us 48hours notice so staff rotas can be organised to ensure everyone’s safety.

School Uniform:

Children attending school during lockdown are not required to wear school uniform.

School Meals:

School meals will not be provided for children in school; therefore, if your child is permitted to attend school, your child will need to be provided with a lunch.

Keeping in Touch:

Staff will make contact with your child over the next few weeks to ensure that they are managing well.

I appreciate that these are difficult times for all of you. Be assured that I will keep you informed of any future updates.

The school office will be open daily from 9am to 3.pm.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your steadfast support throughout these difficult times. It is very much appreciated.

Mrs J Logue
